are the Agencies working directly with the
Weed & Seed Program and what they have to offer:
Ocala Police Department- Weed Element
Major Greg Graham- 352-369-7135
The "Weeding" portion includes a combines federal, state and local agency
task force. Law enforcement efforts will focus on the use of Ocala Police bicycle patrol
officers and undercover operations, coupled with the DEA and the U.S Attorney, to
prosecute as many offenders as possible in federal court. Targets include open-air drug
markets, drug trafficking, crack houses, property crime, juvenile involvement in drug
trafficking and personal violent offences.
Ocala Police Department- Out Reach Progams

This portion of the Weed & Seed Program provides many drug-free recreational
opportunities for youth and families within the target neighborhood. The department offers
arts & crafts, a mobile recreation unity, special events each month and offers some
scholarships for various activities. Recreational progams are offered throughout the year.
Ocala Police Department - Community Policing

Community Policing is a bridge between law enforcement "Weeding"
and the "Seeding" components. This portion of the Progam includes after
school summer drug prevention activities, a summer "D.E.F.Y. progam, police outreach
activities in public housing projects in the designated neighborhood, youth recreation
programs, family outreach, truancy intervention and youth programs.
Community Council Against Substance Abuse

This office acts as a liasion to the different progams and agencies, bringing them
together to ensure a wide range of activities made available to you and your family. The
Community Council Against Substance Abuse is also the Weed & Seed Sterring Committee
and includes members of Ocala City Council, Marion County Commission, Marion County School
Board and other volunteers.
Howard Academy Community Center Safe Haven

A multi-service center where youth and sdult services are available. The Sae Haven
currently offers after school tutoring, arts & crafts, Saturday recreation, piano and
tennis lessins, math and science tutoring, spring break activities, commodity
distribution, life skill classes, personal development and crisis referral services, drug
prevention and prenatal care, nutrition information and literacy progams. The center is
open evenings, Saturdays and during the summer months.
MAD DADS of Greater Ocala

The MAD DADS program provides mentoring services, a Juvenile Justice Alternative
Sentancing Progam, street patrols, tutorial programs, educational assistance, Boy Scout
Troop #708, parenting classes, Alternative Sentencing after care and GED after school
tutorial classes.
Greater Ocala Community Development Corporation

GO CDC provides a Micro Loan and an Affordable Housing Progam. The Micro Loan
Program offers financial assistance ranging from $1,500 - $25,000. to emerging and
exisiting businesses. Other business services are techinical and support assistance,
business counseling and job referrals. The Affordable Housing Progam offers housing
packages, homebuyer education, prequalification and credit counseling. GO CDC's economic
developement projects include a Dollar General Retail Store and Learning Center.
The Governor's West Ocala Neighborhood
Revitalization Council

The Mission of the Governor's West Ocala Neighborhood Revitalization Council is to
work with all governmental agencies and community organizations in revitalizing the West
Ocala neighborhood through enhancement in the areas of enviroment, economics and social
amenities.
Central Florida Community College Hampton Campus

The Hampton Campus is located at the side of the old fire college. The
campus has education programs, learning assessments, college prep classes, continuing
education programs, employment preparation, small business development assistance,
educational opportunity programs, a minorities affairs office and financial aid
counseling. Outreach tutorial assistance is available at the Hampton Campus, the Boys
& Girls Club and several other target area facilities.
